This design automatically shifts the front camera to a more
natural spot and should help shrink the bottom bezel, though that is not
clearly obvious in these photos.

The “horns” around the cutout are broader, giving more room
for icons in the status bar when compared to that of iPhone X.

is seen on the Essential Phone, Android apps don’t play well with such cutouts
(it will explicitly need developers’ support, or else the top of the screen is
a dead area).
