Nothing has launched its most expected Nothing Phone (2a), the company’s third smartphone.

The phone has a 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz OLED screen with up to 1300 nits peak brightness, is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro SoC with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 8GB of virtual RAM.

Nothing Phone (2a) unveiled

The custom Dimensity 7200 Pro SoC promises improved display and modem power efficiency over 10% compared to the standard Dimensity 7200. It runs Android 14 with Nothing OS 2.5. The company has promised 3 Android OS updates and 4 years of security patches every 2 months, same as the Phone (1) and (2).

“The upper part of Phone (2a) has been designed with the camera at its epicentre while carefully positioning the rest of the elements using a circular grid system,” said the company. It has a NFC coil behind the camera, and this is industry-first with its 90° angle unibody cover wrapping around the edges, the company adds.

The back design takes inspiration from Massimo Vignelli’s New York subway map. Compared to glass in the first two models, this uses a plastic back cover.

The location of the LEDs for the glyph on the back are difference since this only uses 3 separations, and has 26 addressable LED lighting zones, compared to 12 in the Phone (1). You can use it for volume, timer, Uber and Zomato and notifications.

It has a dual 50MP sensors for the main camera and the ultra-wide camera. You can also set the Glyph Interface to full brightness and illuminate close-up subjects with a gentle light. There is a 32MP front camera.

The phone has a huge, 5000mAh battery with support for 45W PD charging, which can charge up to 50% in 20 minutes and 100% in 59 minutes. It doesn’t have wireless charging capabilities.  The phone can maintain over 90% of its maximum capacity after 1,000 charging cycles, corresponding to over 3 years of daily charging, says the company.

Nothing Phone (2a) Price and Availability

Nothing Phone (2a) design

The Nothing Phone (2a) is on pre-order from nothing.tech starting today and will ship from March 12.

Globally, it will come in two versions – the base has 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage and costs €329, £319, or INR 23,999. The higher tier has 12 gigs of RAM and 256 GB storage and goes for €379/£349/INR 27,999. India will also get an exclusive 8/256GB model for INR 25,999.

US hopefuls aren’t getting the Nothing Phone (2a), at least not in the general way. Interested buyers need to apply to Nothing’s developer program and wait to get approved before paying $349 for the phone. Nothing says it will approve even non-devs but it’s still not as straightforward as ordering online.
