The Chinese company Oppo has announced the Oppo A97 5G mid-range smartphone, which uses the MediaTek hardware platform and the ColorOS 12 operating system based on Android 12.

The Oppo A97 5G features a flat-frame design. Its rear panel has a rectangular island housing two circles for cameras. The device measures 163.8 × 75.1 × 7.99mm in dimensions and weighs 188g.

The phone flaunts a 6.56-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 2408 x 1080 pixels, a 90Hz refresh rate, and a dewdrop notch. The display is paired with dual stereo speakers with support for Dirac.

The handset is powered by a Mediatek Dimensity 810 chipset coupled with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. It boots ColorOS 12 based on Android 12.

It features a 48MP + 2MP dual-camera system on the rear. Whereas, on the front, there’s an 8MP shooter.

Connectivity options on the smartphone include a dual-SIM card slot, 5G, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth, and GNSS. In addition to a USB Type-C port, there’s also a 3.5mm headphone jack and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Finally, the device is backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging.

Oppo A97 5G Price and Availability

The Oppo A97 5G arrives in a single 12GB + 256GB memory configuration in China priced at ¥1,999 ($298). It can be availed in either black or blue color options.

The handset is available for pre-order starting today (July 11) and will go on sale from 10 AM CST on July 15.

At the moment, it’s not known whether this smartphone will be made available in international markets.
