In what is called surprise package, Huawei has suddenly and launched the Huawei Mate 60 Pro without a huge teaser campaign or a major event. The new smartphone is already available for pre-order at Vmall, the company’s online store in China, so local customers can book their units.

Huawei Mate 60 Pro launched

The most interesting feature is the trio of punch holes in the display, where Huawei nested the selfie camera and the 3D ToF sensor. Aside from that, the phone is an evolutionary update over its predecessor.

Huawei brought a big 6.82” 10-bit LTPO OLED screen with a 2720 x 1260 pixels resolution and 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate. The Mate 60 Pro also has a second-generation Kunlun Glass on top of the panel.

The trio of holes on the top houses the same setup we saw on the Mate 40 Pro and the Mate 50 Pro – a 13 MP ultrawide selfie camera alongside the sensors and lasers for 3D face mapping for the Face ID feature.

The circle on the back fit three more cameras. A well-known 50 MP main unit with OIS and PDAF that we’ve seen in the Mate 50 Pro and P60 Pro with its f/1.4-f/4.0 variable aperture. The ultrawide-angle camera has a 12 MP sensor and f/2.2 lens, while the third shooter has a 48 MP sensor and an f/3.0 telephoto lens with OIS, and AF.

Huawei Mate 60 Pro supports satellite messaging in China. The 5,000 mAh battery supports 88W wired and 50W wireless charging, and it even does 20W reverse wireless charging.

The operating system is HarmonyOS 4.0, making the Mate 60 Pro the first phone with this UI out of the box. Unfortunately, Huawei didn’t confirm the chipset the Mate 60 Pro is using.

Huawei Mate 60 Pro features

The phone has a dual-tone back and four color options. The top part is made of glass for the White and Green options, while the Purple and Black use faux leather. All are neatly named after a location in China because Huawei was apparently inspired by the country’s nature when developing these colors.
