Back in May, Google rolled out an update that came with Confidential Mode for Gmail users on Desktop and now the feature is now available for the Android application. The arrival of the new feature was announced via the Gmail account on Twitter. The Confidential Mode on Gmail allows you set self-destruct timer on a conversations, in order to “protect sensitive information from unauthorized access.”

How To Enable The Confidential Mode On Gmail App For Android?

To Enable this feature

  • Click the button for a new email
  • Then the three dots for Settings will reveal a new option called “Confidential Mode” that lets you to set an expiry date of the email and a passcode.

How The Feature Works

While Gmail users will have no trouble opening the confidential message, non-Gmail customers will get an email passcode to authenticate from a secure web portal. Once the email is sent, the self-destruct timer cannot be changed.

Well, there’s no need to update your Gmail app before you get the new feature. However, for iOS users, Gmail did not respond to inquiries on when they will get it, but it should hit Apple devices.
