iOS 11 now has a new lockscreen notifications
The Apple iPhone X will only displays lockscreen
notifications with actual content when it discovers that it’s the real owner
that is watching but if it’s another person else, they will only see the
notification source, but not the main notification content (which may be
sensitive).

The feature is also available with earlier phones running on
iOS 11, however it’s somewhat modified: since there is no Face ID on earlier
models, simply go to settings and enable showing notifications with content /
preview only when the device has been unlocked.

This imitates settings that have been on Android
notifications for sometimes now: Android lockscreen notifications can be set to
show with content on or with the content hidden, while the later was not available
for iOS users before today. What was available on iOS did before now were
either ability to show full lockscreen notifications with content or not show
lockscreen notifications at all (to be perfectly exact, the feature was
available in Mail and Messages, but nowhere else).
Below is how to manage lockscreen notifications in iOS 11 (bear
in mind that you must have entered a passcode and / or Touch ID or Face ID before
it work):
  • First, go into Settings
