Today, (November 14, 2022), Douyin, which is basically TikTok, has officially announced that it will be streaming the FIFA 22 World Cup for free.

TikTok

The company announced that it will offer the popular football World Cup live broadcast on its platform for free, but it will exclusively be available in China.

For those unaware, the FIFA 2022 World Cup is taking place in Qatar and Douyin managed to win the rights to stream the FIFA World Cup earlier this year. So now, TikTok in China will basically cover the entire 28-day event and offer free live broadcasts of all games at Ultra HD (4K) resolution quality on its popular short video-sharing platform. Simply searching for the “World Cup” will have Douyin users enter a special dedicated page that lets you watch the World Cup games.

Apart from just streaming the FIFA games, TikTok will also be offering a number of features to make the experience of watching the stream more interactive. This includes letting users invite friends to chat while watching the game. The app will offer this by making a live broadcast room. Keep in mind that this free 4K stream is exclusive to the China Douyin app. Meaning, it won’t be available on the TikTok app that is available globally.

Currently, this is all the information that is known regarding this matter, so stick around for more updates regarding a global availability.
