WhatsApp to have ability to record and send short videos

WhatsApp has rolled out a new update through the TestFlight beta Program, bringing the version up to 23.6.0.73 with the version marked as 2.23.6.73 in WhatsApp Settings and the TestFlight build as 23.6.0 (458666918).

The update includes a new feature under development, which is discovered thanks to the business version of the app. It looks like WhatsApp is currently working on the ability to record and send short videos up to 60 seconds, which will be available in a future update of the app.

WhatsApp Copies A Telegram’s Top Features

According to Wabetainfo, with this new feature, WhatsApp users will be able to record and send short videos of up to 60 seconds to their contacts by pushing the camera button. It is a new way to communicate with friends on WhatsApp. And it will work similarly to voice notes, but with the added benefit of capturing and sharing video content.

Video messages can help to convey emotions and expressions better than a voice message or text alone. And they may be more appropriate than a voice note in some situations. Such as when trying to show someone how to use a new product or demonstrating something visually.

Video messages on WhatsApp will be end to end encrypted. Which means that nobody, not even WhatsApp, Meta, and any proxy provider, can see shared video messages. Additionally, it won’t be possible to save or forward video messages to other conversations for added privacy. But you can still take screenshots.

The ability to send video messages is currently under development on the iOS app. And users can expect to see it in a future update of the app. We will provide further details as they become available.

In the meantime, WhatsApp users can look forward to a new and exciting way to communicate with their friends on the platform.
