Last month, Netflix announced a new subscription plan called Basic with Ads. The new Netflix Ad-Based Subscription was launched on November 3 in 12 countries/regions. In the US, the plan costs $6.99 per month.
In announcing the news, Netflix claims it now has the confidence to offer every fan a corresponding price and plan. The initial 12 countries to enjoy this subscription plan are
- Australia
- Brazil
- Canada
- France
- Germany
- Italy
- Japan
- South Korea
- Mexico
- Spain
- United Kingdom
- United States
Because younger people tend to watch less TV, they are not as exposed to TV commercials as older people. Netflix says the basic subscription with ads is a good thing for advertisers. This is because they will be able to show their products and services to more people.
Viewers using this subscription will see 15- or 30-second commercials that run before and during shows and movies.
