Today, Xiaomi has unveiled the ultra-affordable Redmi A3 smartphone. It has a leather-like finish on the back design, a big display with 90 Hz refresh rate, and runs Android 14.
Redmi A3 comes with a Helio G36 chipset, which was the same as the predecessor A2. However, here, RAM is either 3 GB, 4 GB, or 6 GB, as opposed to the 2/3/4 GB options that the predecessor had.
The extra memory was clearly deemed enough by Xiaomi to transition the A3 to the full Android 14 instead of the Android 13 Go edition its predecessors ran.
The Redmi A3 is built around a 6.71” LCD with HD+ resolution. It has 90 Hz refresh rate and a Gorilla Glass 3 on top, and since it can’t have a fingerprint scanner underneath, the sensor made its way on the side on top of the power key. The panel also has a waterdrop notch for the 5 MP selfie camera.
There are two shooters on the big circle at the back – an 8 MP main one and some sort of auxiliary snapper that isn’t even mentioned in the specs sheet. There is also an LED flash.
The battery has 5,000 mAh capacity and supports 10W charging through the USB-C port. There is also a 3.5 mm audio jack on the phone.
