Galaxy Z Fold5

One of the most significant differences between the Galaxy Z Fold5 and its predecessor, the Fold 4, will be the hinge. Samsung has reportedly opted for a drop solution that will reduce the visibility of the crease in the center.

This transition will decrease the thickness of the device from 15.8-14.2mm to approximately 13mm. Moreover, both sides of the foldable should close like a book, leaving no space between them.

The upcoming foldable is expected to have almost identical dimensions to the current generation, with a mere 0.2mm difference. The device’s weight is also expected to be lighter, at 254 grams, which is nine grams less than the Galaxy Z Fold4. Additionally, the external display of the device will reportedly remain at 6.2 inches and will not undergo any significant changes.

Other notable features that are expected to be included in the Galaxy Z Fold5 are a new technology for the touch screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform, IPX8 water resistance, and ISOCELL GN3 main sensor (not the ISOCELL HP2 found on the Galaxy S23 Ultra).

The Galaxy Z Flip5 is the second foldable smartphone to launch by Samsung next summer. Similar to the Galaxy Z Fold5, the Z Flip5 is also expected to feature a teardrop hinge. As for the displays, the leaker claims that the internal one will be narrower, but no further details have been shared.

Meanwhile, the external display will reportedly be almost square at 3.4 inches. If the rumors are true, this would be a substantial upgrade from the external display of the Galaxy Z Flip 4, which measures just 1.9 inches. With an almost double diagonal, the screen would occupy a good part of the external body.

Also, other expected features of the Galaxy Z Flip5 include a new technology for the touch screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform, IPX8 water resistance, and a teardrop hinge.
