Twitter has started rolling out the revamped interface. The company announced via its Twitter Support account that iOS users could now swipe between tabs to see tweets recommended “For you” or tweets from accounts you’re “Following.”

Users will also be able to view tweets from profiles they follow by default.  Twitter is tweaking how you navigate between the algorithmically-driven timeline and the reversed chronological timeline, as well as making the algorithmic feed the default.

For you and Following tabs

Twitter previously allowed users to read tweets in two ways. Users can switch between the “For you” and “Latest” selections by selecting the star icon in the top-right corner. “For you” featured “Recommended tweets,” while “Latest” presented the most recent tweets from accounts you follow.

According to the tweet, the new “For you” and “Following” tabs will replace the “Home” and “Latest” tabs, and they will be clipped to the top of your timeline, making it easier to navigate between them. You can switch timelines by swiping instead of hitting the star icon.

More features soon

The update partially delivers a commitment made by Twitter CEO Elon Musk. He tweeted on December 20th that the “main timeline should allow for an easy sideways swipe between top, latest, trending, and topics that you follow,” and that business would “making this change soon.”

Musk also disclosed that Twitter will enhance the Bookmark feature, which he describes as “de facto silent like,” and roll it out in February in addition to the UI change and the introduction of long-form tweets up to 4000 characters.

Availability

Twitter’s new “For you” and “Following” tabbed design is now available on iOS. There is no announcement on when Twitter will incorporate these design changes into its Android app.
