Xiaomi is expected to announce its next-generation flagship phones, which will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. The name of Xiaomi’s upcoming line of high-end smartphones may change, according to rumors that started to surface this Friday morning. The new device may come as Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro instead of Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro.

An image of a carton of the Xiaomi 14’s retail boxes is now being circulated on Weibo. In addition, another image circulating on Weibo mentions the key specifications of the device. The image mentions the “Xiaomi 14” and its “2211133C” model number.

The image reveals that the device is running on the MIUI 14.0.2.0-based Android 13 OS and has the Android security patch for the October month. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform and 12 GB of RAM.

The authenticity of the above images could not be confirmed. Hence, it is advisable to wait for newer reports to see whether Xiaomi’s next flagship phones will be the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro.

Apparently, Xiaomi wants to skip the number 13 because it is associated with bad luck in many western countries. That is, the company must follow the pattern of Chinese companies that skip the number 4, since it indicates death in China.

It is likely that Xiaomi will confirm the launch date of its next flagship phones in the coming week. The lineup is expected to feature two devices, one with a compact form factor and a 6.26-inch display and another with a 6.7-inch screen.

Both devices are expected to run the forthcoming MIUI 14. A recent report said that the company has already started testing the two devices internally in Asian markets. This suggests that these devices may be coming to the global market soon.
