Alongside the Pro versions, Vivo also launched the standard version called the Vivo X80. This model comes with the latest Sony sensor for its primary camera and brings along the impressive MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC.
Design-wise, the X80 follows in the footsteps of its predictors featuring the classic “cloud step design” with some improvements. The device has a large rectangular camera island on the back, housing a triple camera setup in a circular module with the ZEISS branding.
The device features curved edges and a flat back panel. The power button and volume rocker are housed on the right edge of the device.
The Vivo X80 is equipped with a curved 6.78 inch FHD+ 120Hz E5 AMOLED display on the front with a centered hole punch housing the selfie camera. The display panel is capable of 1500 nits of brightness and covers 100% of the P3 color gamut. The device has narrow bezels going around it which are only noticeable on the top and bottom.
The Vivo X80 houses the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 flagship SoC under its hood. The SoC comes paired with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The company has claimed that the device has an AnTuTu score of over one million points with the highest score achieved being a mind-blowing 1,049,081 points.
The device is also quite good in gaming applications as it has achieved the KPL (King Pro League) competition machine test certification beating able to run the game stably for 4 hours in both modes of “90 frames + extreme picture quality” and “120 frames + high-definition picture quality.”
To keep the device cool, the Vivo X80 features a VC liquid cooling solution with a soaking plate covering an area of 4285mm², making it the largest soaking plate on a Vivo device so far.
The device is powered by a 4,500mAh battery with 80W fast charging support. Using the dual-cell 80W flash charging, the device is able to charge back up to 50% in 11 minutes, and it only takes 34 minutes to fully charge. The device is certified by Rheinland for safe fast charging.
For software, the X80 Pro series will run on Android 12 OS-based OriginOS Ocean out of the box. Other features include NFC, HiFi audio support, X-axis linear motor, dual stereo speakers, in-display fingerprint sensor, and facial recognition.
For optics, the X80 has a triple camera setup on the back. The device is equipped with the world’s first Sony IMX866 primary sensor. The 50MP sensor comes with an f/1.75 aperture, adopts an RGBW arrangement, and supports OIS as well. The primary camera is paired with a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 12MP portrait sensor with 2x optical zoom. On the front, the device features a 32MP selfie snapper.
The camera lenses come with a multi-layer coating from Zeiss to reduce ghosting and stray light while enhancing detail and capturing more natural colors. Like the X80 Pro model, the vanilla X80 also gets Vivo’s proprietary V1+ ISP chip (Image Signal Processor) to enhance the photography experience.
The device offers multiple camera modes like Night scene, portrait, photo, video, 50 million, panorama, dynamic photo, slow motion, time-lapse photography, professional mode, AR cute shot, micro-video, document correction, double exposure, dual view video, supergroup photo, and smart vision.
