Sony has officially announced the Xperia Ace 2 (Xperia Ace II) in Japan as the company’s tiniest smartphone in recent memory. The phone features a 5.5-inch IPS LCD with HD+ resolution and Gorilla Glass 6 protection upfront. The exact dimensions come in at 140 x 69 x 8.9mm while weight is set at 159 grams.
The Xperia Ace 2 is a 4G LTE device powered by the well-known Helio P35 chipset. You get 4GB RAM and 64GB storage which is expandable via microSD. True to Sony traditions, the Ace 2 packs IP68 water and dust proofing and a headphones jack.
The back sports a 13MP primary camera which is joined by a 2MP depth sensor. The front-facing selfie shooter comes in at 8MP. You also get a fingerprint sensor on the side which also doubles as the power button.
The Xperia Ace 2 packs a 4,500 mAh battery which combined with the power-efficient chipset and small screen should result in ample battery life.
