Xiaomi has officially unveiled two smart TVs called the Mi TV LUX Pro 82-inch 8K 5G and Mi TV LUX 82-inch 4K in China.

The Mi TV LUX Pro 82-inch 8K 5G is the most-advanced television from the house of Xiaomi after Mi TV LUX OLED Transparent Edition. The reason for this is because it is the company’s first TV with 82-inch 8K mini LED panel and 5G connectivity.

Xiaomi claims that the screen on this TV provides a whopping 2,000 nits of brightness, 4,00,000:1 contrast ratio, and 10.7 billion colors. It also says that the panel on this Xiaomi television comes with 960 local dimming zones and each of these zones can display 4,096 levels of light and shade. Also, this panel covers 98% of P3 wide color gamut.

As expected, It can support video playback/input of up to 8K (7680×4320 pixels) 60Hz and features SR image enhancement technology to upscale 1080p, 2K and 4K content to 8K. Further, it supports all the popular HDR standards such as Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG, 120Hz MEMC, Automatic Low Latency Mode (ALLM), and noise reduction algorithm.

The company has also partnered with iQiyi, a popular Chinese video streaming service to offer 50+ 8K video content to users.

This TV is future-proof as the next-gen gaming consoles – Sony PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Xbox Series X support 8K gaming. Additionally, this television comes with an integrated 5G modem to help users stream high-quality content.

For audio, it sports 60W dual-soundbar attached to its either side mimicking wings. These 8-unit speakers with 2.5L sound cavity are powered by Doby Atmos, DTS-HD, and  Mi Stereo Sound. It also sports 4 x far-field microphones so that users can interact with it via Xiaomi’s XiaoAI 3.0 voice assistant.

Other features of this Mi TV include a quad-core NOVATEK chipset (2 x ARM Cortex-A73, 2 x ARM Cortex-A53, ARM Maili-G51 GPU), 4GB RAM, 256GB internal storage, MIUI for TV 3.0 operating system, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, infrared sensor, 3 x HDMI 2.1 (including 1 x 8K input, 1 x  ARC),  1 x USB 3.0, 1 x USB 3.0, a Gigabit Ethernet port, a Fiber Optic port, an AV port, an antenna port, a SIM card slot, and an RGB LED strip for aesthetics.

The Xiaomi Mi TV LUX 82-inch 4K has an 82-inch large-screen television with a standard 4K (3840×2160 pixels) LCD panel with LED backlight and therefore, it is much cheaper than the above Mi TV.

According to the company, the panel on this TV has a peak brightness of 1000 nits, 1,40,000:1 contrast ratio, 240 local dimming zones with 4,096 levels of light and shade, 93% DCI-P3 color gamut, 1.07 billion colors, and 97.3% screen-to-body ratio.

Further, it supports all the commonly used HDR standards – Dolby Vision,  HDR10, HDR10+ & HLG, noise reduction algorithm, and 120Hz MEMC. Whereas, for sound,  it features 30W 6-unit dual-speaker powered by Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD, and Mi Stereo Sound.

As for processing, this Mi TV comes equipped with a quad-core MediaTek chipset with ARM 4  x Cortex-A73 cores & Mali-G52 MC1 paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. Like all Xiaomi televisions sold in China, it runs MIUI for TV but the latest recently announced v3.0.

  • Mi TV LUX Pro 82-inch 8K 5G: 49,999 yuan ($7,330)
  • Mi TV LUX 82-inch 4K: 9,999 yuan ($1,466).

The former is already up for sale in the company’s home country, while the latter will be available from October 21.
