The New Apple iPad Air May Come Cheaper And Still Powerful

A new iPad Air including other tablets and new ARM-powered MacBooks are said to be in work as reported by DigiTimes. Apple is reportedly expecting sales in both product categories to pick up 2020 compared to last year.

The new iPad Air, with a 10.8-inch screen this time, is reportedly adopting the iPhone SE strategy – combining a friendly price tag with a powerful chipset. Possibly the Apple A13, the chip at the heart of the $400 iPhone SE (2020), though some conflicting reports still exist on this.

The iPad Air (2019) came the A12 chipset and comes with a starting price at $500 for the 64 GB model. The vanilla iPad 10.2 has an ancient A10 chipset and goes for $330 currently. So, the 2020 Air price tag should fall somewhere between those two.

There are no much information about the new Air. The slate may be the first non-Pro version to come with the Lightning port and adopt USB-C instead. Another Pro feature connected to the new model is the possibility of supporting the Magic Keyboard.

New iPad mini Not Coming This Year

If you’re waiting for a new iPad mini, you may have to wait till next year, according to Kuo. Interestingly, he also reports that the iPads will come with 20W chargers, unlike the iPhones which may soon come with no charger at all.

As for Apple’s MacBooks, 13-inch models of MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, both powered by Apple chipsets, are allegedly in development, set to release by the end of this year.
