Last year, Apple announced a special version of iOS for its iPads which it called iPadOS. Before then, iPads had been running iOS just like iPhones. Now, a new leak has emerged, claiming Apple may soon ditch the iOS name for iPhone OS (perhaps calling it iPhoneOS).

iOS 13

The info shared via a tweet by Jon Prosser, a leaker known for Apple-related news. The tweet was corroborated by Max Weinbach of XDA Developers who said he received a mail saying that Apple will rename iOS to iPhone OS.

Max’s tweet also said the mail mentioned that the iPhone will be renamed Apple Phone. Regarding the renaming of the iPhone, we advise you to take it with a pinch of salt for now.

The announcement is expected to be made at Apple’s WWDC 2020 conference which is scheduled for April 22. The conference is supposed to be for new developments and features coming to iOS 14, iPadOS, watchOS, and macOS.
