As soon as I had a glance at the specs of the Nokia 2.3, it was immediately clear to me that this would go head-to-head against Tecno’s Spark 4. The are enough similarities to make a Tecno Spark 4 versus Nokia 2.3 comparison an exciting prospect.
The entry-level space of the smartphone market is quite crowded, so it takes some extra effort to make a phone that makes a striking statement. I took a quick glance at the Nokia 2.3 and immediately, Tecno’s Spark 4 came to mind. It was evident to me that they had enough similarities to make them direct competitors.
For example, they both use the quad-core Helio A22 chipset from MediaTek. The duo come with 2 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage. They both run Android 9 and are dual-SIM 4G LTE devices.
And they both have a 4000mAh battery. How much more similar can two smartphones get? Lastly, the difference in their prices between the two is just ₦2,000.

We can so easily call Tecno Spark 4 and Nokia 2.3 twin siblings from different mothers. But there are differences though. Let’s put the key specs in a table to see how the two phones square up side-by-side.

Tecno Spark 4 Vs Nokia 2.3: Which Would You Buy?
The internals of both phones are pretty much the same. The differences are in the display sizes, selfie and rear cameras, and software.
If you must have a bigger display, you will find the Tecno more attractive, but lovers of more compact smartphones will appreciate the smaller display of the Nokia.
While the rear cameras on both of them include 13MP and 2MP lenses, the SPARK 4 adds a 3rd lens that Tecno simply calls an AI camera. There is no word on the megapixel count. But anyway, that makes the Tecno Spark 4 a triple camera configuration against the Nokia’s dual camera.
As far as the selife cameras are concerned, the Spark 4 has an 8MP shooter while the Nokia 2.3 has a 5MP shooter. Hmmm…I am not certain if this difference will matter in real life scenarios. And as I always say, short of a proper shootout between two cameras, no-one can really tell which is better. Megapixel count is not everything.
Lastly, The Spark 4’s user interface has Tecno’s custom software, HiOS. It adds extra functionality to proper Android, but it also makes it look different and not everyone find it tasteful. In the other corner is pure Android OS on the Nokia 2.3. Many people find it plain, same way as others swear by it. But the big advantage of the Nokia’s software is that it comes with a guarantee of 2 years Android version updates and 3 years of monthly security patches. Which is something you will not get with the Tecno phone.
If you are big on software updates, the Nokia is what you want to explore, and the beauty is that it stands out in this category. Why? Nokia is the only Android phone maker that offers software updates for its entry-level phones.
In reality, your wants may not be so cut out clearly: you might want a big screen and software updates. Or you might want the triple camera and stock Android.
Tecno Spark 4 Vs Nokia 2.3: Price Wars
Lastly, the Tecno is the cheaper of the two, at ₦34,500, against the Nokia’s ₦36,.500. That is only ₦2,000 difference, which may not mean a lot to some people. But again, there are many other people who will appreciate the cost saving.
Well, I want to believe that you are ok with this. Everything about the two phones has been broken down for you. It is now up to you to decide which of these two smartphones is your preferred. Happy shopping!
