MediaTek has announced a major partnership with Intel. The Taiwanese chip maker will collaborate with Intel to bring 5G support on Intel-powered laptops. MediaTek’s 5G modem is under development and the chip maker is working with partners to manufacture the solution.
The first OEMs’ products to enjoy the result of the new partnership are Dell and HP. We can expect to see MediaTek’s 5G solution make it onto Windows laptops in early 2021.

MediaTek’s 5G modem intended for these Intel-powered laptops is based on the Helio M70 5G modem that was announced back in May. MediaTek is set to announce its first 5G SoC intended for smartphones tomorrow.
