DxOMark has just released its list for the best smartphone cameras of 2019. Previously, the company’s primary focus was on DSLR’s and digital cameras but have since started testing smartphones as well. Now, they are a popular means for smartphone manufacturers to get their latest devices tested and ranked amongst their competitors.

Unsurprisingly, the list of the best performing smartphone cameras has big names like Xiaomi, Huawei, Samsung, and Apple. DxOMark reviewed a total of 31 smartphones this year which ranged from budget to flagship models from major brands and has compiled the best smartphone under multiple categories.

Best All-Rounder: Huawei Mate 30 Pro / Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro Premium Edition

The Huawei Mate 30 Pro and Xiaomi CC9 Pro Premium Edition tops the DxOMark’s Camera ratings. This makes both devices a great choice for mobile photographers that need top-notch camera performance. Being an all-rounder means that the camera is exceptional in taking both images and videos.

Best For Videos: Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max

With a video score of 102, Apple’s iPhone 11 Pro Max tops in terms of smartphone videography. The tests showcased the device’s capability of capturing HDR footage which results in a very wide dynamic range. According to DxOMark, iPhone 11 Pro Max produced great color reproduction, exposure, and white balances.

Best For Zoom: Xiaomi CC9 Pro Premium Edition

Thanks to the advancements of dedicated telephoto optical lenses, smartphones have been slowly gaining ground in zoom capabilities. Under this title, Xiaomi’s CC9 Pro Premium Edition takes the lead. DxOMark called the devices zoom closest in quality to a ‘real camera’ zoom performance.

Best For Ultra-Wide: Samsung Galaxy Note10+ 5G

For those interested in group shots or landscape photography, Samsung’s Galaxy Note10+ is your best bet. Ultra-wide angle lens has become a recurring feature in high-end smartphones over the past couple of years. However, not all functions the same and the title for the best under this category arrived after a variety of different shooting tests.

In this category, it was Huawei’s Mate 30 Pro which took the number one spot. It achieved the best result due to a combination of new sensor technologies and innovative software algorithms.
