“It was embarrassing. I pushed it through before it was ready,” said DJ Koh, CEO of Samsung Electronics CEO, of the issues that have dogged the Galaxy Fold, at a media briefing event held in in Seoul, South Korea.
DJ Koh, which sounds like a rather cool name for a disc jokey, further went on to day:
“I do admit I missed something on the foldable phone, but we are in the process of recovery,” Koh said.
“At the moment, more than 2,000 devices are being tested right now in all aspects. We defined all the issues. Some issues we didn’t even think about, but thanks to our reviewers, mass volume testing is ongoing.”
The first batch of the device sent out to reviewers turned up with issues with the foldable display and had to be recalled. Not only that, the launch date was postponed indefinitely. It would have been the first foldable device to hit the market.
Samsung and Huawei were on cat race to beat one another to the market with a device with a folding screen.
The Galaxy Fold is not cancelled and will arrive in the market soon, Samsung insists. We wait.
