Samsung has just announced a new and original feature of its smartphones. Sadly, this interesting functionality is only available in the UK.

If you’re in that country, visit Bill’s, The Breakfast Club, Patty & Bun or Pizza Pilgrims and you’ll see a small QR code on the menu. If you are a user of any smartphone other than Samsung, you can ignore it because that QR code does not mean anything to you.

But if you have a phone from the Korean giant, by scanning the QR code you will unlock secret menu items that only you can ask for.

”Bill’s, The Breakfast Club, Patty & Bun, and Pizza Pilgrims have been secretly creating some exciting dishes that only Samsung owners can get their teeth into.” the Korean giant wrote on the page about the secret menus on its website.

“All you need to do is pop in to your favourite restaurant (or all of them if you prefer), find a Secret Menu, and look for an AR code. Then it’s just a case of unlocking the exclusive dishes using a Samsung phone”.

It is not clear if this function will reach other restaurants or other regions, but we hope it will expand.

It is worth to mention that, Samsung has also officially announced today its new mid-range smartphone chip, Exynos 9609. This new chip is a downgrade of the Exynos 9610 and is expected to be used on future Galaxy A-series phones.

Like the Exynos 9610, the Exynos 9609 is based on a 10nm FinFET process and features an eight-core design that includes a 4 x 2.2GHz Cortex A73 high-performance core + 4 x 1.6GHz Cortex A53 low-power core. The GPU is the ARM Mali-G72 MP3.

On the other hand, Exynos 9609 is equipped with a neural network engine, which can realize image AI recognition through deep learning, and supports smart depth perception technology. With this, a single camera can be used to capture portraits and can also achieve background blur.
