Huawei’s pre-MWC event centered on the 5G on its new Balong 5000 5G modem and the company’s base station hardware. However, there’s bit of more interesting info towards in towards the end of the presentation – Huawei will be introducing a 5G phone to the MWC.
And we are not talking of just any 5G smartphone, but a foldable type. That would be a definitely be the world’s first, except Samsung gets there first with the foldable Galaxy, rumored to have 5G connectivity, though yet to be officially confirmed.
The smartphone will be powered by the Kirin 980 chipset combined with the Balong 5000 modem. Well, “phones” actually, the slide suggests there will be more than one 5G handset presented in Barcelona (presumably, only one of them will be foldable).
