There are three core models in Samsung’s 2019 flagship lineup, namely Samsung Galaxy S10, S10 Plus, and the S10 Lite (also known as S10E). There is also a fourth 5G-ready model. We have all the details.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 Devices

Here are the four devices that make up the S10 lineup.

  • Galaxy S10 – the standard Samsung flagship
  • Galaxy S10 Lite – a smaller, cheaper S10 model
  • Galaxy S10 Plus – a bigger S10 with more main camera lens
  • Galaxy S10 5G – an even bigger version of the S10 Plus with 5G connectivity

Prominent features of the S10 line-up include: Infinity-O displays with punch holes for the selfie camera, Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and/or Exynos 9820 chipsets, and under display fingerprint sensor.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Software

One of the most exciting aspects of the S10 devices is that they all run Android 9 Pie along with the new custom user interface, One UI. One UI has a new, simplified layout and flow that takes into consideration how modern phones are used.

The Samsung Galaxy S10’s Cameras

While the S10 Plus has a triple camera at the back, the other two sport dual cams. In addition, the Plus model has a dual camera for selfies, but the other two have single cameras.

The Samsung S10’s main camera has dual aperture, a secondary one with an 123° field of view ultra-wide lens, and the third, a telephoto lens. The megapixel ratings of the triple camera setup will be 12MP, 16MP and 13MP respectively.

Of course, it has an edge-to-edge display, with near-zero bezels all round. As far as screen size is concerned, the S10 Lite has a 5.8-inch display, the Galaxy S10 a 6.1-inch display, while the Galaxy S10 Plus screen is 6.4 inches in size. The Galaxy S10 5G has a huge 6.7-inch screen.

A New Type of In-display Fingerprint Scanner

Samsung Galaxy S10 will also feature an in-display fingerprint scanner. Of course, this means the same will apply to the Galaxy S10 Plus and likely the Galaxy Note 10. The difference though is that this time the scanner will be ultrasonic. Ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanners are said to be more accurate and more secure than optical in-display scanners.

However, the Galaxy S10 Lite will have a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Chipset

The Galaxy S10 range will be powered by an Exynos 9820 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 (for the US market). Both chips are dedicated neural processing units (NPU) and support AI processing.

Lastly, a variant of the Samsung S10 Plus is equipped with 5G. Samsung is not playing catch up, as mobile networks in the USA and elsewhere around the world are launching 5G networks in 2019. The 5G model has a 5,000 mAh battery.
