Instagram appears to have been hacked and this affects hundreds of Instagram users, with a lot of people being unable to login to their accounts.

Some users found themselves unexpectedly logged out of their accounts and unable to log back in. The attackers successfully changed the Instagram account name, profile pictures, passwords and email addresses associated with the account, with the new email address originating from Russia.

Profile pictures of affected users have been replaced with Pirates of the Carribean photo and Instagram management have this to say;

“We are aware that some people are having difficulty accessing their Instagram accounts,” the company tweeted. “If you think you have been impacted, please follow our guidance to regain access.”

However, some users are still complaining that the guide Instagram provided to regain access to the hacked Instagram account has not been helpful so far.

“I’m concerned because my account has been taken over by the hacker – but I did not receive any email from Instagram whatsoever when my email was changed,” a Twitter handler wrote to Instagram.

Hope your Instagram account is not among?
