WhatsApp has been working on these for months now – an important feature that enables users to view YouTube videos directly in the messaging application.
Finally, WhatsApp has started rolling out for all iOS users the possibility to view YouTube videos shared in WhatsApp.
How It Works?
To view a YouTube video on WhatsApp, you will have to share or receive its url in a chat, then you will see the Play Button in a bubble.
The video will be viewed, and maximizing the PiP, you can view the video in full screen mode.
To get this feature, you need to update your WhatsApp version to the 2.18.11 update via AppStore. The update also brings bug fixes and general improvements. The new feature is also available in the 2.18.10 update, but the 2.18.11 version is certainly better.
As earlier reported about the YouTube support, this functionality had one limitation that is “it’s not possible yet to keep active the video if you change the chat”: fortunately WhatsApp has worked to allow videos to not be stopped when the user changes the chat.
Sadly, this feature is yet to be available for Android and Windows Phone platform, and appears there are no plans to introduce it at present.
When the news for these two platform arrives, be rest assured that we will notify you.
