Airtel Daily Free Basics Facebook Browsing Now Capped At 20MB

For sometimes now, talking of years, Facebook free basics has been available only on Airtel and 9mobile networks in Nigeria and now, only Airtel network has decided to halt its own generosity in respect to that service. The mobile operator has cap the unlimited data attached to it by now offering just 20MB for the same service.

Facebook free basics lets subscribers to browse and chat on the popular messaging app for free without paying a anything for the access. However, pictures and videos are going to be invisible to users when on the free mode.

Below is the message sent by Airtel Nigeria to its subscribers pertaining the development. The message goes thus;

“Dear customers, please be informed that free Facebook is now capped at 20MB daily. For unlimited Facebook experience, dial *141# to activate a data plan.”

Well, I will say this is not too good as we expect data to become cheaper and not trying to empty our pockets. However, it’s good as the telecom operator gave a prior notice.

Some subscribers purchased Airtel SIM just because of this Airtel free basics feature, not actually because of its unfriendly data plans. who knows if 9mobile will follow this step too.
