Twitter brings on additional mute options in the latest update to stop trolls, abuse and harassment
Twitter has announced that its mobile apps are now better than ever before when in terms of securing yourself from online abuse and harassment.

A new set of notification filters has now been made available for Twitter users both on Android and iOS, which will enables them to mute accounts considered trolls.
Before the latest latest addition, you were be able to mute any Twitter account that you deem it necessary. Starting from yesterday, July 10, Twitter users will be allowed to disable notifications from the following types of accounts using the new options in the advanced filter settings:
  • Accounts that are new (that you dont follow);
  • Accounts that dont follow you (that you dont follow);
  • Accounts you dont follow;
  • Accounts with a default profile photo (that you dont follow);
  • Accounts without a confirmed email address (that you dont follow);
  • Accounts without a confirmed phone number (that you dont follow).

However, these does not prevents trolls from posting their tweets, at least user who makes use of the newly added filters won’t be notified when they are published on Twitter.

The latest additions are now available on both Android and iOS platforms and should available to all in couple of days.
How to set filters on the web:

1. Go to your Notifications timeline. 

2. To filter your notifications, click on Settings. 

3. Check the box of your preferred filter(s) to turn on.

How to set filters using Twitter for iOS:

1. Go to your Notifications timeline 

2. Tap on the gear icon 

3. Tap Advanced filters. 

4. Drag the slider next to your preferred filter(s) to turn on.

How to set filters using Twitter for Android:

1. Go to your Notifications timeline 

2. Tap on the gear icon

3. Tap Advanced filters. 

4. Check the box of your preferred filter(s) to turn on.
