Kogi NLC cancels May Day celebration in protest over non-payment of salaries
The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Kogi chapter has canceled the May Day (May 1) celebration foer this year, within the state in protest over the non-payment of some workers’ salaries and 14 months pensions of retirees.

In a statement issued on Sunday, April 30, in Lokoja, the state capital, NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) said the move was in solidarity with the concerned workers and pensioners.
The statement was jointly signed by Mr. Onu Eduka, the state Chairman of the NLC and the TUC chairman, Mr. Ranti Ojo.
The unions lamented that the refusal to pay salary to a large volume of workers and settle pensioners for over the past 14 months has destroyed the state civil service and its workforce.
