Umar Al-Makura
Does it mean if his fellow students refused to stage protest
on his behalf, the case would have been swept under carpet?
One of the sons of the Governor of Nasarawa State, Umar
Al-Makura, Khaleed, has been detained by the state police command for purportedly
using his car to kill a Junior Secondary School student, Ovye Amos, reported to
be in JSS2 class of Government Secondary School, Lafia, Nasarawa, on Sunday,
March 19, 2017.

Reports said Amos was out to purchase batteries for his
torchlight when he was hit by a car that was being driven by Khaleed. The
driver escaped from the incident.
Following the confirmation Amos death, his fellow students
took to the streets of Lafia to stage a peaceful protest yesterday, asking that
the case should not be swept under the carpet and that the culprit must be
brought to book
Reacting to the incident, Mr. Aliyu Tijani, who is the state
Commissioner for Education, described the incident as a very unfortunate type.

He confirmed the event and said that offender (Khaleed) has
already been detained.
