It was actually a thing of joy for the women from Ondo state for producing the first female speaker when one of them got elected to that position. That means women within the state have started rejoicing for going places in the government. But it seems their source of joy is about to disappoint them.
Jumoke Akindele, the first female Speaker of the
Ondo state House of Assembly, was relieved of her position by 20 out of the 26 members of the assembly over alleged N15m fraud last.
According to the lawmakers, the suspension of the three principal officers was due to the withdrawal of the sum of N15 million by the Akindele.
Some of the lawmakers was said to have caught the paymaster with the N15 million naira cash within the premises of the House of Assembly. He claimed to have been working for the suspended speaker.
